Hi! I’m Amelia

I’m a qualified and experienced counsellor. I offer a private and confidential online counselling service supporting young people and adults.

Qualifications Initially training as a Psychologist in the UK, I moved to Greece to qualify with a Masters in Counselling Psychology with a Practicum (Distinction). I am accredited with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I adhere to their ethical frameworks. I am fully qualified for online and telephone counselling.

Alongside my private practice, I have comprehensive experience in providing counselling to clients from various backgrounds. I have worked with students at primary and secondary schools across Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire and with undergraduate and postgraduate students at Universities. Over the years I have provided individual and group therapy for Youth Centres, Bereavement and Mental Health Charities. I have experience working in NHS and private clinics for health services supporting adult patients who suffer from mental health difficulties and chronic pain conditions. I am fully qualified to work within NHS IAPT services offering Person-Centred Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD).

I work using an integrative approach to therapy which draws from different practices and theory from Person Centred Therapy (PCT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to suit each client’s individual needs. I will work with you to explore your experiences without judgement or expectation. I offer long-term open-ended therapy and short-term solution-focused therapy.

What is Counselling?

Counselling and Psychotherapy can still be associated with negativity or used as a last resort. There is a common misconception that therapy or counselling is for those with mental illnesses. This is untrue as therapy is accessible to anyone. Therapy provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a trained professional about your concerns and issues. Whether it is exploring emotions, improving selfcare or building confidence and improving the quality of your life, I will help you to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and others. Counselling is about sharing your experience with someone who will listen to understand from your perspective, not offer unsolicited advice and provide neutral non-judgemental support. Within our sessions I can support you to develop self-awareness and work towards your goals.

I understand it can be difficult to reach out to others and seek counselling. Asking for help is a sign of strength and therapy is one of the best forms of self-care.

“It’s not about getting the feeling out of the mind, or hiding it, but about experiencing it with acceptance.”
